I don’t scrapbook. I know, I’m like, the last person on the planet who doesn’t. Rather than turn in my mommy badge & hang my head in shame, I decided to keep an online “scrapbook” for my three boys, Maxfield (almost 6), Wyatt (3 ½), and Jackson (age 1). A picture is worth a thousand words, but let’s face it, my brain is like oatmeal lately, and a few extra details to help jog my memory later on can’t be a bad thing.
Oh, and I’m using the term “scrapbook” loosely. Sometimes the posts will be photo-oriented, but I’m guessing they’ll end up being just as much about the written word, too. Word from yo’ mutha.
What will I do with the content you ask? What if, in fifteen years, the internet as we now know it doesn’t exist, and all my attempts at creating memories for my children are foiled? I have no idea. Baby steps. I guess if you look at it that way, a real scrapbook could always be lost in a fire, but I prefer to look on the brighter side of things. I’m sure I’ll someday have hard copies made of all the content when all the little birdies have flown away. In the meantime, these days go by so quickly, many times faster than I care to admit. It’s important to enjoy every moment for what it’s worth, and I just want to document the here and now, before I forget…
Lauren, you said it perfectly! I don’t scrapbook either and am significantly relieved to know that such a creative soul as yourself hasn’t caved to the pressure to do so either.
This blog is a great idea! I look forward to watching the boys grow from here. PS – can you send me your “new” address – all I have for you is Bill’s parents and I want to update our Christmas card list while I’m thinking about it. Love you!
I don’t scrapbook either. I have NO IDEA how anyone does. I have a book started and got as far as my oldest son’s first Easter. He was 5 months old. He just turned 17 this past November.
I have boxes and boxes of photos, stickers, paper, cutsie things that maybe one day will become scrapbooks. I even have four very large, expensive “Creative Memories” albums with the safe pages, etc. I have the past nine years worth of photos on the computer. I don’t think my youngest child has ever even seen a photo of herself on paper, that she can hold in her hand.
I am impressed that you can do this (I have pretty much given up on my blog and just do Facebook now) and look forward to keeping up with you and your boys! I hope I will not freak you out, but feel I must tell you that I had some weird dream last night that I went to your house to help you guys work on building some shelves:) LOL Was all snowy and my van was sliding down a hill and your house was MUCH smaller than it seems in any photos that your husband posts. Pretty weird. But then all my dreams are weird.
Take care!
